COREY PITRE

Cocodrie Anglers

Capt. Corey has been fishing and running boats since he was old enough to walk. Corey’s dad, the late Capt. Alton Pitre, was one of the first charter boat captains on the Louisiana coast. Pitre Sr. ran the charter boat, Al-jo, out of Cocodrie, back in the 50’s and Corey would go with him every chance he could. Capt. Corey worked with his dad in the summer months for years. Capt. Corey has been charter fishing for over 25 years. He is an excellent captain, great fisherman and knows all the inland waters of Terrebonne Parish. Corey fishes like there is no tomorrow and will do whatever it takes to put you on fish. You will really enjoy a trip with Capt. Corey Pitre.

It is one of the most addicting forms of fishing and the adrenaline rush is comparable to none. “Bowfishing is a method of fishing that uses specialized archery equipment to shoot and retrieve fish. Fish are shot with a barbed arrow that is attached with special line to a reel mounted on the bow“.  Saltgrass Lodge – Venice Louisiana Nearly seven-thousand square feet of elegance and delicacy, the Saltgrass Lodge in Venice, Louisiana is a beautiful antebellum-style home overlooking the Mississippi River. The home is located an hour south of New Orleans on the slender peninsula that forms the tip of the Louisiana boot and the mouth of the Mississippi river. A single highway hugs the western side of the river deep into the thick Louisiana marshland to the river’s end, the Mississippi river delta. The home is a proud monument standing tall despite mother nature’s wrath. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina poured over the levee protection in south Louisiana. Flood waters rose to an astounding twenty-two feet in the interior of the then private residence that would become Saltgrass Outdoors first property. The flooding did not damage the resilient framework and in 2007 the structure was purchased by Saltgrass Outdoors and marked for a complete renovation. The post Katrina remodel was carefully crafted. Restoring and preserving southern Louisiana charm was paramount. The Lodge achieves a special type of nostalgic luxury with special consideration to classic Louisiana plantation architecture. The lodge is now a quaint escape in the heart of bayou country Louisiana. Inviting rocking chairs on the wrap around porches keep watch over cargo and cruise ships navigating the currents of the Mississippi River. A cabana-lined pool deck, Jacuzzi bath, and gourmet meal complete the daily itinerary for visiting sportsmen and families. Saltgrass Lodge consists of four levels. The ground level is a covered open-air entertaining area that allows large groups a reprieve from the hot summer sun or inclement weather. Come dine on the Second Level where you’ll find the kitchen, dining and living rooms, as well as the Cypress Room- a cypress wood-lined room fit for card games . The level is also surrounded by a wraparound porch with French door entry and exit from all rooms. To the rear, an extended deck features an outdoor kitchen along with seating for dining or lounging. The Third and Fourth Levels are rooms and suites.

GERALD ELLENDER

Light Tackle Charters

My name is Captain Gerald Ellender, and I live in Houma, Louisiana. I have always heard that if you do what you really love and are passionate about it, then you will never have to work again. That is why I am a fishing guide/charter fisherman. I still get excited preparing for trips and making fishing memories with people. I am so grateful that I am able to share my passion with my customers. Light Tackle Charters is a father and son business and we take pride in what we do. Even if the fish are not cooperating, we guarantee you will still have a great trip and many lasting memories. We fish the Dularge area and have a network of Captains, so no matter if it’s just you and your spouse or a 40 client corporate trip, we can accommodate your needs. We also have lodging, so give us a call and come experience what South Louisiana has to offer! To book your trip, call 985-688-1715. Houma is located in Terrebonne Parish, which is centered between the Mississippi River and the Atchafalaya River. It has been said that the Atchafalaya Basin is one of North America’s greatest remaining estuaries. With that being said, it is no wonder that the waters around and below Terrebonne Parish are so rich with fish and wildlife. South Louisiana is one of the best, if not the best, places to fish in the country for speckled trout and redfish. Our two captains are Captain Gerald Ellender and Captain Joshua Ellender. We have fished the Dularge area for the majority of our lives and have a combined experience of over 50 years. Book a trip with Light Tackle Charters! We guarantee you won’t be disappointed! We mainly target speckled trout or redfish but also offer bull redfish, black drum or sheepshead charters. All of these fish can be caught throughout the year, but some months are better than others. Redfish – Big fighters and tons of fun to catch. Limit is 5 fish per person. Redfish can be caught all year long, but the best months are August and September. It is truly amazing how many redfish are caught during these two months.  Bull Redfish – It is a redfish over 27 inches. We fish a little different for these, but these put up an enormous fight. February through April and August through September are great months for these big fighters.  Speckled Trout – Great table fare and hard to beat when you can catch two fish at one time. Limit is 25 per person. April through July and October through December are fantastic months for speckled trout.  Black Drum – Cousin to the redfish and actually taste a little better too (in my opinion). Just like the redfish, the limit is 5 fish per person. Black drum can be caught all year and get very big. It is not uncommon to catch a 40+ pounder. Sheepshead – Great fighters and great table fare. No limit on these guys, which makes for a fun day. December through February are fantastic months to fish for sheepshead. Summer Rates  1 Person Fishing Charter – $350  2 Person Fishing Charter – $450  3 Person Fishing Charter – $550  4 Person Fishing Charter – $600 Winter Rates  1 Person Fishing Charter – $350  2 Person Fishing Charter – $400  3 Person Fishing Charter – $500  4 Person Fishing Charter – $550 This price is for the charter only. It does not include fuel, ice, and live or dead bait (if used). If you would like an all-inclusive price, please let us know. All bookings require a $200 deposit for confirmation and become non-refundable fourteen days prior to the scheduled date. Weathered out days will be rescheduled. All deposits are forfeited after one year. Charter Information  A typical fishing charter starts off leaving the dock anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour before sunrise. The boat ride can range from twenty minutes to over an hour; this depends on the time of year and what type of fish we are targeting. The charter will usually last eight hours, but it can be more or less depending on the situation. For example, let’s say fishing is tough in the morning and we only have around twenty or thirty fish in the ice chest. All of the sudden, thirty minutes prior to heading back in, we find a great bite and are catching them one after another; we will be happy to extend the fishing trip at no extra cost. On the other hand, if the bite is great in the morning and we finish our limit early, some customers like to head back in to beat the heat.    Catching Bait  Some trips we will use artificial baits, and some we will use live or dead bait. We will try to use artificial as much as possible, but some days live bait is all the fish want. If shrimp season is open, we have a net that we tow behind the boat to catch our own bait. If you have not experienced catching bait this way, I highly recommend it. If shrimp season is not open, then we will have to buy the live or dead bait.    Rod and Reel Information  We furnish rods with spinning reels. If you would like to bring your own, please feel free to do so. We strongly recommend bringing your own bait-casting reel, but if you cannot let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements to provide one. What do I need to bring?  You are encouraged to bring a cap or hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain gear, soft soled non-marking shoes (preferably deck shoes, flip flops, Crocs, or tennis shoes), food, drinks, ice chest to take your catch home, a camera, and a fishing license. All children under sixteen are required to wear a life-jacket while the boat is in transit. We do not have life-jackets for small children; please bring your own. We carry adult size life-jackets, and these will not work for small children.  Fishing License  A fishing license is required for each person sixteen years of age and older who wants to fish. Louisiana offers a three day resident or non-resident charter fishing license for $10.00 plus a handling fee. There are several ways to obtain a fishing license prior to your fishing trip. One way is to do so online at http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/licenses. Another way is to call the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at 1-888-765-2602. The third way is to visit any Louisiana store that issues fishing licenses and purchase one there. A few stores throughout Louisiana who do this are Academy and Wal-Mart.

He has fished Cocodrie, La. for 30-plus years at all times of the year and in all sorts of varying weather conditions. This experience allows him to safely navigate the ever-changing landscape of the waters in the area and consistently find fish in accordance with the season and weather conditions.  Jeff’s full-time career is a self-employed manufacturers representative in the water and sewer industry. His charter fishing business was created mainly out of a love for the sport of fishing and to supplement his young family’s income on weekends doing what he enjoys doing in his spare time.  Geaux Fish Charters takes a somewhat different approach to the charter fishing business. CASEY LOMBARD

Precision Fishing Charters LLC

Welcome To Precision Fishing Charters Where sport fishermen of every skill level can experience the beauty and bounty of Southwest Louisiana’s inland and coastal waters all year long. Captain Casey Lombard operates his fishing guide service with the mission to guarantee safety, excitement, and fun for all ages.   Captain Casey comes from a long line of South Louisiana fishermen.  From his very first fishing trip at the age of 4, he was hooked on the sport.  Much of his early childhood was spent with his father and grandfather fishing the lakes and marshes in Delacroix, Louisiana.  At age 9, his best friend’s family introduced him to the abundant fishing waters in and around Terrebonne Parish where he spent countless weekends and summers all through high school developing his fishing skills and studying the habitat. His genuine love of the sport was encouraged by his family and friends who knew that every chance he could get, he went fishing!     After serving in the U.S. Navy, Captain Casey’s passion for fishing speckled trout and bull reds led him back to the rich inland and coastal waters accessible through Cocodrie and Bayou Dularge.  Captain Casey has extensive knowledge of the coastal lakes and inland bays and has studied fish migration patterns in these waters for many years. Deciding to turn his passion for fishing into a career, Captain Casey was more than excited to open Precision Fishing Charters, LLC. in November of 2017. His goal is to share the exciting sport of inland and coastal fishing in South Louisiana’s barrier islands by providing you with a safe and thrilling fishing experience.

MARK RICHARDS

Hunting Red Fishing Charters LLC

New for 2017 will be running speckle trout trips April through August onboard a 2017 24′ Bluewave pure bay powered by Yamaha 300hp.  Book multiple days and fish for trout one day and then sight fish Redfish to get a full experience of what Louisiana fishing is all about. Captain Mark Richards specializes in sight-fishing Redfish. From Nov. through mid-March the big girls can be found on shallow flats adjacent to deep water. These flats off main channels are generally 10″ to 3′ deep. Water clarity is such that you can see these brutes (many over 40″, 25 to 35 lbs.) cruising the shallow flats looking for an easy meal. When these brutes move back out to the passes we concentrate inside the marsh in shallow ponds and coves and catch slot fish (16″ – 27″). The slot limit is 5 fish per person per day with one over-slot allowed per angler per day. Redfish are excellent table fare either on the half-shell baked or grilled. They are also very good filleted and fried. Slot fish can be found year-round inside the marsh in shallow ponds.  Prime trout starts in Late April/May as they transition out of the marsh to the outside.  Fast and furious action is not uncommon in May, June, and July with them coming into the boat 2 at a time on double rigs. In the marsh, Captain Mark fishes out of a 19′ Trans Cat equipped with a Suzuki 150 hp outboard motor. It drafts around 8″ depending on the load and can run in 3″ to 6″ of water. It is also equipped with a Minn Kota Talon, Minn-Kota remote-controlled trolling motor, Lowrance HDS 9 and a 7′ tower on the bow of the boat. This puts the anglers up high to help see the fish and experience watching the fish turn and charge to eat the baits. This is something you will remember for a very long time. We are hunting fish. I have an excellent knowledge of where these fish are, but they do move around. Hence, Hunting Red. If you enjoy hunting and fishing I’ve taken both elements and married it into a thrill-packed day on the water. What to bring- I supply all rods, reels, and artificial baits, but if you prefer, by all means, bring your own. A quality pair of polarized sunglasses is a must-have to see the fish under the water. Sunscreen, a ball cap, depending on the time of year a jacket, and rain gear. Full day rate is $700.00 for up to 3 anglers.$600.00 for 2.  On rare occasions, bait, shrimp, or crab may be the best options for the conditions. This can run an additional $20.00 to $60.00. I leave this up to the party. I may suggest it if the conditions are such that it is the best option to boat fish but I rarely use it.

TOMMY PELLEGRIN

Custom Charters LLC

I think I should start by telling you something about me. My name is Capt. Tommy Pellegrin and I own Custom Charters, LLC. For some reason I gave up a good job with great benefits to go fishing for a living. I did this in 1995. I had been chartering part time since 1992, so add up all those years and that gives me lots of experience when it comes to fishing. I run 2 boats; one is an offshore fishing machine. A 39’ Gravois Pilothouse powered by triple 300 Suzuki’s. The other is a Team Skeeter SX240 bay boat powered by a 300 Yamaha. I just flat-out love to fish, so why not bring other people out and share the enjoyment. My smiles get bigger and bigger every time someone reels in another fish. I guess it’s an illness of some sort but I know of no cure. Make sure you bring your camera because you never know what will be on the other end of your line when you reel in. You will want to keep these memories handy for your jealous friends to look at. Whether it’s corporate entertainment or just fishing with the kids, make sure to call Custom Charters, and we will make it happen for you. I will customize your trip to accommodate the type of fishing you want to do – hence the name Custom Charters. I supply all of the necessary fishing equipment or you can bring your favorite rod and reel and put it to the test. I use Penn, Abu Garcia, and Shakespeare fishing equipment. Internationals for trolling the big tuna, Penn Spinning for top water tuna action and for mangrove snapper or cobia. Penn Torque reels for bottom fishing and Abu Garcia for inshore speckled trout and red fish. All of this means nothing without fish coming over the side and going on ice. So trust in the fact that with my many years in the Charter business, I must be doing something right. Just remember that at the end of the day your back, shoulders and arms will be tired from catching but the smile you bring home will last a lot longer than the pain.
