Women’s Fishing 101 Workshops
Every year, LDWF partners with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation to present free Women’s Fishing 101 Workshops. These workshops are open to all women over the age of 18 who are interested in learning about fishing and Louisiana’s aquatic resources. The goal of these workshops is to help women become knowledgeable, confident anglers who enjoy and protect Louisiana’s world-class fishing.
Whether you haven’t cast a line in 20 years or you’ve never fished before, these workshops are for you. Lead by LDWF biologists and volunteer instructors, the workshops cover a variety of topics and teach numerous skills to help make fishing more enjoyable for everyone. Workshop topics include fish identification, best fish handling practices, preparing fishing equipment, and basic fishing skills, as well as cleaning, storing, and cooking fish.
Some of the participants in each workshop will also have the chance to apply their newly learned skills on an overnight fishing trip under the direction of LDWF biologists and volunteer instructors.
